Review – The Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock

Located on the Jurassic coast of Burton Bradstock sits a foodie’s hidden gem. With sea views and Lyme Bay, the best place to have local fresh seafood or even a piece of cake with your coffee is undoubtedly The Hive Beach Cafe.

Another glorious sunny day on our May Holiday was the perfect excuse to head for another Jurassic Beach in Dorset. After hearing rave reviews, we decided to head to Burton Bradstock once again but this time for lunch at the Hive Beach Cafe.

Now, I must warn you, they do not take bookings so it is a first come first serve basis. This did not bother us, we wanted the fresh local food so if it meant waiting we would, we got there just in time and boy it was worth it.

Everything they make is homemade so you are guaranteed fresh treats and lunches. The portions are huge so come hungry you will certainly not leave hungry that is for sure. My poor mother in law ordered the crab not realising how big it would be, thankfully my father in law was pleased with his normal size proportion.

For £22 I had half a lobster and a glass of bubbles. For me, this was great value considering it is freshly caught.

The crab I was talking about was a good portion. Again, value for money £18. Plenty to crack through. We even enjoyed their own brew of craft lager.

The day was so hot, and they were incredibly busy, it is not quick service so prepare to be patient, we did not opt for dessert, however, I had a sneak peek at the cake section and they looked delicious. Not forgetting our four-legged companions again, The Hive Beach Cafe is dog-friendly and even have homemade dog treats.

If you fancy trying some amazing biscuits from Hive Beach Cafe, you can order them online and have them delivered to your door. Don’t mind if I do…

A very small climb next to the cafe is their ice cream hut. Freshly made ice creams with plenty of choices.
